Future Electrical Engineer Chooses CarolinaPower for Job-Shadow Day

March 12, 2020 by carolinapower Leave a Comment

Diego Moo recently spent an entire school day at CarolinaPower’s Greenville, S.C. office as part of Greenville County Schools’ district-wide career exploration program for eighth graders. Diego is a student at Mauldin Middle School.

Thirteen-year-old Diego chose to job-shadow at CarolinaPower for two reasons. First, he wants to become an electrical engineer; thus, working with an electrical contractor made perfect sense. Second, he has always wanted to work with his dad, Edson Moo, CarolinaPower’s Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Manager.

All 8th grade students were eligible to select any career to job-shadow if it was approved by their school counselor. Diego’s counselor was on board with his choice, especially since his aptitude test suggested he consider going into electrical or mechanical engineering.

“One of my dreams came true today,” said Diego. “I got to finally work with my dad.”

“CarolinaPower is continuously looking for opportunities to introduce young people to careers in construction,” said Travis Oswald, branch manager. “Job-sharing day is a great way for young people to experience our profession first-hand. It was our pleasure to host Diego.”
