CarolinaPower’s Edson Moo Assumes Expanded Role as VDC Manager for Southeast Operations

CarolinaPower proudly announces the promotion of Edson Moo to Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Manager for Southeast Operations.

Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) plays a crucial role in modern electrical construction, integrating Building Information Modeling (BIM), 3D modeling, Robotic Total Station (RTS) Support, and Prefabrication/
Manufacturing drawings.

These technologies optimize underground routing, site work, in-wall and overhead installations, electrical room layouts, light fixture placements, and clearance considerations. Additionally, VDC contributes significantly to the manufacturing and prefabrication of electrical components, enhancing efficiency and precision.

In his expanded role, Moo will continue leading VDC efforts across CarolinaPower’s two-state footprint while also assuming oversight of VDC initiatives at sister company MetroPower, which operates in Georgia, Alabama, and Florida. Furthermore, he will collaborate with the VDC department of parent company PPC Partners Inc., based in Wisconsin, to align processes and enhance efficiency across regions. His role also includes close coordination with the company’s Southern Prefabrication group, located in Atlanta, GA, and Columbia, SC.

“Both Virtual Design and Construction and prefabrication are critical to the landscape of electrical construction Industry and instrumental to the future of our company in terms of enhancing safety, efficiency, while reducing waste and lead times,” said Travis Oswald, Vice President of CarolinaPower. “VDC impacts every aspect of project planning and execution. With Edson taking on a broader role, he will help elevate our construction services by standardizing processes and driving innovation across our regional and company-wide operations.”

Moo’s career with CarolinaPower spans nearly two decades, beginning as an electrician and steadily advancing into leadership roles. As a superintendent, he managed healthcare projects at Greenville Memorial Hospital for five years before spearheading the development of CarolinaPower’s VDC department.

“I have a deep passion for technology and always enjoyed creating 2D layouts for my electricians on-site. Transitioning to 3D modeling has been incredibly rewarding,” Moo said. “Every project is unique and comes with its own challenges. The sense of accomplishment I feel in contributing to the team’s success is indescribable. My VDC team is the best.”

Reflecting on his journey in the construction industry, Moo shared, “I always dreamed of working in construction, even as a kid. I thought it was fascinating to build things. Having a family member in the industry gave me the opportunity to get involved.”

Beyond his professional contributions, Moo is dedicated to his community. He is a long-time volunteer youth soccer coach for the Carolina Elite Soccer Academy (CESA) recreation program in Greenville, S.C.
