This LEED Silver, $55 million facility has everything a football program needs to recruit and produce the best college football team. CarolinaPower was an integral member of the design and construction team from the early planning stages. Once mobilized, CarolinaPower was one of 85+ subcontractors on a site where there were over 200 workers at any given time. A culture of teamwork among the trades was key to meeting owner expectations for safety, quality, schedule and budget.
An exceptionally complex lighting controls system consisted of individual room controllers and owner-customized room scenes. The sheer number of light fixtures (1,378 individual units), combined with 70 different types, required meticulous planning for scheduling deliveries and coordinating installation activities.
Throughout construction, we managed large volumes of changes, which steadily increased without a schedule extension. Our already tight schedule was compressed when it was declared that Clemson would be hosting National Signing Day at the Tigers’ new facility — a month sooner than the original planned move-in date. Despite the challenges, CarolinaPower’s quality of work exceeded owner expectations while still meeting the accelerated schedule.
