Employee Resource Group’s Book Club Pick Focuses On Confidence Building

CarolinaPower is proud to offer its employees an internal professional networking group dedicated to supporting women in the workplace. The Employee Resource Group (ERG) has more than 60 active members across the PPC family of companies in five states. Membership in the ERG includes both men and women.

The group’s most recent book club read was The Confidence Code by Katty Kay and Claire Shipman, which focuses on the importance of confidence for women of all ages and stages of their career.

“Our discussions shed light on how common it is for women to lack confidence, which can lead to missing out on opportunities. The book introduced some confidence-boosting habits and offered practical tips for how to get started in our confidence journeys and those of our daughters. We absolutely need to be teaching our daughters to be more confident,” noted Crystal Burnett, office manager for CarolinaPower and a charter member of the group.

One of the Few Women ERGs in the Construction Industry

Known as the “United Women of the PPC Companies (UWPPC),” this Employee Resource Group was formed by PPC Partners – CarolinaPower’s parent company – in 2019 to promote gender diversity across PPC’s four companies. The UWPPC’s mission is rooted in these foundational beliefs of CarolinaPower and its sister companies: The Power to Serve, The Pursuit of Excellence, and Entrepreneurial Spirit.

The UWPPC holds quarterly business meetings and educational events via Microsoft Teams, shares resources on the PPC Partners intranet, and regularly communicates with its members through LinkedIn, Facebook and an e-newsletter.
