Hands On Greenville Service Day: Living Out Our Company Mission

CarolinaPower employees strive to be a positive influence at work, at home and in the communities they serve.  On Saturday, April 30, CarolinaPower’s Greenville, S.C. office made a difference by providing a dedicated team of 13 volunteers for the United Way Hands on Greenville (HOG) Annual “Celebration of Service Day.”

CarolinaPower’s team joined thousands of volunteers representing area companies, church groups, associations, and families, who donated their time and talents to work on hundreds of service projects benefitting non-profits, schools, parks and community organizations.

Travis Oswald, CarolinaPower-Greenville Branch Manager, served as team captain for their assigned project at the Eastside YMCA located in Taylors, S.C.  “We cleaned the grounds, disposing of debris and trash, and we trimmed bushes, limbs, and put down mulch in a number of areas,” said Oswald.

Crystal Burnett, Office Manager, noted “Some of us were asked to paint one of the restrooms over near the ballfield and it took most of our entire team to move a huge soccer goal. It was a rewarding experience for all of us.”

Madison Younginer, Business Development Executive, added, “It felt great to give a bit of my weekend to the community alongside my fellow team members.”

HOG Day, the region’s largest annual day of service, was not held in 2020 or 2021 due to the pandemic, so CarolinaPower was excited to be able to carry on tradition by providing a team for HOG Day, as “Hands on Greenville” is familiarly known.

While CarolinaPower and its sister companies – all part of the PPC Partners family – celebrate 75 years in business in 2022, CarolinaPower has set a goal to perform at least “75 of service” during this calendar year. United Way of Greenville County, which is celebrating a “Century of Service” this year, is happy to be one of the beneficiaries of this lofty goal.

CarolinaPower President Chris Moore praised the team of which he and two of his children were a part. “The Team did an outstanding job as always… this is a spring tradition we plan to continue for years to come. We are truly grateful for the opportunity to serve, especially in this year of celebration for both CarolinaPower and the United Way of Greenville County.”
